The Light

Yesterday I completed my first quarter of nursing school! You know that expression, "the light at the end of the tunnel"? Well, the light finally caught up to me!!

As of the 11th, I have one year left of school. I can't believe it! Some days I think I could do this forever, and other days I think "I'm way too old for this". I am so thankful to have a week off to rest, get my life back together, and reintroduce myself to friends and family.

HELLO WORLD, REMEMBER ME??

So, something cool happened this week that I had to share.

It's been a bit of a struggle for me to get a handle of my finances now that I'm back in school and have no job. When I say it like that it sounds pretty simple, but in the complicated world of ME - not so simple.

Basically it's this. I would rather step on a tack barefoot than discuss, address, consider, or even look at money issues. I love to ignore it.

Because when you ignore issues, they typically go away, right?

RIGHT?

Hello?

I have a stumbling block.

HAD a stumbling block, to be accurate.

Monday I had one of those moments where my, "Who me? No issues here!" became "LORD HAVE MERCY ON ME - I HAVE NO MONEY."

Thankfully I have an incredible Father [earthly and Heavenly] that helped me work through the problem...which would be me thankyouverymuch. It was time to look at the issue face to face and get real.

It was such a strange sensation - freedom that someone was on my side helping me, relief in finally getting things in the open, and having to fight my flesh - which was telling me to ignore it all and just go back to reading People.

Here's the short of it. Keeping issues and stumbling blocks a secret is BAD NEWS.

Well, that's actually all of it. It's just bad news.

My Dad shared this scripture with me, that is so fitting it makes me want to spit (and renew my love of God's Word day after day!!).

Psalm 32 [NLT]

Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.
Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the Lord." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone!
Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement.
For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.
Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.
Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.
So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all who obey Him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Doesn't that just bless your spirit?!? When you see the light? Actually, you see The Light, and the Light is your Helper!

God is good.
