Bumpits?

***EDITED: Ok, has anyone really checked out this website? Apparently the Bumpits are not for children under 12, and unfortunately are NOT EDIBLE. ***

As I was doing my hair this afternoon morning, I was wondering about "day two" hair. How do you handle "day two" hair? You know, the second day after washing when you are too lazy to do your hair again want to take advantage of your hair's natural oils?

I will confess, I'm tempted by this: Check it out.

I mean, it's happie hair! Happy with an "ie" instead of a "y"! That has to mean something!

Are you there world? It's me, Random.

Happy Tuesday!

I am SO LOVING the sunshine today! I hope the sun is shining where you are, because DANG, I have missed it! I never would have pegged myself as one of those people who suffer from SAD, but I lit up when I saw what God was displaying this morning! [And yes, I gave you a little linky for SAD, because this blog is not only funny and witty, but also informative.]

Ok, so I have a lot of random things to share, so let's just jump in with both feet, shall we?

Slanket Drama

Do you remember this? Look how excited I was!! The back story is that Kristen and Jen bought me a Slanket for my birthday. Then Jen and I bought one for Kristen for HER birthday. Then we decided that Jen needed a Slanket because we're in 3rd grade and friends need to have stuff that match.

Well, it turns out that there was a Slanket mix-up and I was proudly displaying Kristen's Slanket instead of my own. When it arrived at my house, I just assumed it was my Slanket, not Kristen's! Whoops! Anyway, all Slankets have been accounted for and are with their rightful owners. However, one owner [who shall remain nameless] is fixin' to have her Slanket removed by SPS [Slanket Protective Services]. You know who you are!

Baby Cuteness

Have a little bit of this guy, just because he's so cute! Love him.

TV

Are we all watching American Idol? I hope so, because this season is go-od. Sadly tonight we have to listen to the State of the Union, but I'm looking forward to the next batch of hopefuls. I think my favorites so far are Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey. I also like Anoop, but I think it's just because they call him "Anoop Dog", which I find funny. I hope you are loving Judge Kara as much as I am. She actually has intelligent things to say, and she doesn't clap like a seal. Seriously, Paula's clapping makes me crazy.

Ok, I also want to comment on this season of The Amazing Race. I love this show! HOWEVER, I don't understand why people go on this show to test their relationship. Really? If you aren't sure if you want to be with someone, is putting yourself in a pressure cooker of sleep deprivation, stress, weird food, continual air travel, and language barriers really the way to go? Make sure you keep track of Phil's [the host] eyebrow, because that thing jumps around like nobody's business!

Music

If you haven't purchased the newest mini-album from Mr. Dave Barnes, please do so immediately.

Cooking Tip

When you are pre-heating the oven and begin to smell plastic burning, be alarmed. Poor strainer never saw it coming.

That's a whole lot of randomness for one entry, so I think I'll leave you now. To summarize:

Slanket = good
Baby = good
American Idol = good
Amazing Race = good
Dave Barnes = good
Preheating the oven with a strainer in it = bad

Have a great week!!!

Tales of the Mister...

I give you a small glimpse of my life and the life of my people:

Text from Jen tonight at 8:07pm. She and Sam had gone to the hockey game while I stayed with Max. And....enter scene:

Jen: Is Mister asleep?

Me: Yes! Went down about 7:25.

Jen: That's great. Glad he stayed up a bit. Score it still 0-0. BOR.ING.

Me: Actually there may be a crib party in progress. I can hear him moving around!!

Jen: Just let him party it up! He is prob trying 2 read books in the dark.

Me: No he's not! I took them out! I wasn't sure if you left them in or not!! LOL!!

Jen: That's hilarious! Well then he is just babbling to himself.

Me: Poor guy!! Ha ha!

Jen: He'll survive.

Clearly the newness of motherhood has worn off and Jen is all about Max just makin' it work!!

Enter next conversation at 9:58pm. Jen had said before they left for the game that she was taping Dateline with the Mom of the Octuplets.

Me: If you don't hurry up I'm going to be forced to watch the OctoMom!!!

Jen: We r 2 min away! U sure u don't want 2 stay and watch it with me?

Me: It's starting! Her huge lips are sucking me in!!!

Jen: Wait 4 me!! Haha Angie lookalike huh?

End scene.

So, we watched the OctoMom and I was left with more questions than answers. However, I am convinced that one thing she does need is prayer, prayer, and more prayer!

Everyday Miracle...

If you aren't sure if God is still working miracles today, I give you Caleb Michael!!!

Born February 4 @ 11:38pm, weighing 8lbs. 2oz. and 20 inches.

Isn't he the sweetest, most precious thing EVER?? I just want to eat him up!

Once again, I had the honor of being in the delivery room for the birth of Jed & Monica's baby. This was a totally different experience, so calm and mellow. Monica is a rock star. I'm not kidding you. She pushed a total of TEN TIMES and this baby was out!

God, you are miraculous in every way! Thank you for this precious life!

Worth the Wait

Guess what FINALLY arrived in the mail today...

I'll give you a hint.

YES! The Slanket!!!

Oh sweet joy! I returned home from the Basketball Buckeyes victorious win over Purdue, only to find that the victory party was REALLY at home!

The anticipation is KILLING ME!

Here is the full length shot of me and my new best friend. Even Tucker knows a quality gift when he sees one! He ran right over and sat down on the train of "the slank", as it shall be known from now on.

Do not be fooled. This thing is authentic.

I can reach for the remote without getting a chill, just like they said I could!

Reading a magazine with toasty warm arms and wrists? Divine!

The Slanket also doubles as a robe/Christmas pageant costume.

I look forward to many warm nights with the slank. I just hope Chazzle doesn't get to it first!

25 Things

For those that aren't on Facebook, there has been this thing going around where you share 25 things about yourself. Well, I thought I would share my list with my bloggy buddies!!

Enjoy!

1. Although I just turned 30 in December, I have an irrational fear of costume characters. I don't love the idea of grown adults dressing up in costumes to cheer up children. Creepy.

2. I am a SERIOUS procrastinator. However, I have learned that it probably stems from the fact that I am also a perfectionist. If I can't do it perfectly, I'll put it off as long as possible.

3. I have ridden the log ride in the Mall of America with my two BFFs and our pastor at the time. Oh, and I have the key chain to prove it.

4. I would live in Ireland if my friends and family would move there with me.

5. I am proud of the fact that I can drive a stick shift car.

6. I have been in the delivery room for the birth of my friend's baby and am currently waiting for the call that their second child is on the way! It was the honor of a lifetime, and I can't believe I get to do it twice!

7. I.LOVE.DIET.COKE. I love it. Totally and completely.

8. I have never underestimated the therapeutic power of Mexican food, or a great bottle of wine shared between friends.

9. At any given time, I have 3 different brands of shampoo and conditioner in my shower. I think I can confuse my hair into being shinier, smoother, and more voluminous.

10. I love my handwriting. Apparently other people do too, as I have been asked to address invitations a number of times.

11. I am a QVC shopper, and have only once gotten sucked in to the "Today's Special Value".

12. I love office supplies. I love everything about them.

13. I sleep with a humidifier every night. [My apologies to Mary Baker for making fun of her sound machine. We are now kindred spirits in our need for noise while sleeping.]

14. I don't do roller coasters.

15. I have the GREATEST friends who love me unconditionally, and teach me new things all the time. As a bonus, they are relentlessly funny.

16. The longest relationship I have ever had has been with my face wash. I have been using the same brand since I was a teenager.

17. I love watching the Olympics. I could watch the most random sport [i.e. curling] with the greatest of enthusiasm.

18. I was a cheerleader in Middle School.

19. Also in Middle School, I played Katherine in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew"...she was the shrew!

20. My iPod is a Jekyll/Hyde mixture of Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, Michael Buble, T.I. and worship music. I love it all!

21. In my mind, nothing compares to the red dirt in Oklahoma. Or the fried okra.

22. I love hand written notes. They are so fun to write and send, but I also love seeing on in the mail stuck in between bills and other junk. It is a lost art that I am completely committed to!

23. I love dogs.

24. I don't like wearing hats. I don't like the way they flatten down your hair. Perhaps this is directly related to all my shampoo.

25. I can't wait to meet my kids. I think they are going to be really funny, and I can't wait to see what kind of people they are going to be.
